Mercy Day
Mercy International Association made a direct appeal in last week’s E News to the Sisters of Mercy and their Associates to provide funds through UNICEF to those who are directly providing relief to those worst affected by the crisis in the Horn of Africa
Friday August 12th dawned and we have arrived at the third day of this fantastic Young Mercy Leaders Pilgrimage. Even though we had a very late night last night due to the talent show, everyone arrived ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’ this morning.
What began as a chance meeting nearly seven months ago when Mercy Associate Lincoln Sigwald first met a Bhutanese family is quickly developing into a full-fledge effort among Mercy associates in Charlotte, North Carolina USA.
Mamre programme in NSW Australia is an example of how the Sisters of Mercy are taking their vision on Cosmology and translating it into practical action to support marginalised sections of the community.
The morning began with Morning Prayer which gave all here a chance to re-enter the sacred space of the Pilgrimage. A rousing music session followed and some of the hymns which will be sung at the Pilgrimage Mass on Friday night were practised.
The morning of August 10th dawned dull and cool in Dublin and although dark clouds threatened to dampen the area around Baggot Sreet, the Young Mercy Leaders arriving for the first day of their Pilgrimage brought warmth and brightness and great enthusiasm
