Mercy Day Greetings 2017 (6)

Mercy Day celebrations this year mark 190 years to the day since the opening of the first House of Mercy, now Mercy International Centre.

Greetings should be sent to Mercyenews@mercyinternational.ie by Friday, 22 September to make sure they are published online for Mercy Day.

¡Feliz Día de la Misericordia! Happy Mercy Day!

Happy Mercy Day.
May we continue to strive to become a global Mercy presence as we respond to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor in our particular contexts.

Feliz dia de la Misericordia
En medio de las complejidades y desafíos de hoy mi deseo es para que sigamos encendiendo esperanza y amor al vivir y adentrar en el sueño de Dios de la vida para toda la creación.....

Warmest greetings this Mercy Week to all the Mercy Family and friends worldwide from staff, pupils and the wider Mercy family at Mercy College Belfast.Together we make a difference!

It is 190 years since the opening of the first house of Mercy. Here in Melbourne Australia, Catherine McAuley’s inspiration lives on. McAuley Community Services for Women has provided more than 30 years of support and accommodation for women who are homeless, and women and their children who are experiencing family violence.

Last year we opened the new McAuley House, a uniquely designed building promoting the health, wellbeing and dignity of women who have experienced homelessness. The building has numerous pieces of artwork through out and a feature at the entrance is the red door of the very first House of Mercy, symbolising new beginnings for the women who come there. On this special day of celebration, we are proud to be carrying on the values, ethos and founding spirit of Catherine McAuley.

Prayerful greetings on Mercy Day when we remember with gratitude that Catherine’s dream became reality in the House of Mercy. May this be a very special day for those of you who are privileged to celebrate Mass at Mercy International Centre on this momentous occasion of 190 years. May Catherine inspire us all to hold on to the dreams of mercy we have today too.

Joy, peace and love,

The Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary family of Spring House, Pennsylvania joins with the entire Mercy family throughout God's good earth in celebrating the 190th birthday of the House of Mercy! In the words of Catherine, let us continue to be "shining lamps giving light to all around us" for the next 190 years.
