MIA Vision refined and developed by MIA Members meeting at Burlingame

First International Mercy Research Conference held at Burlingame

Board of Directors established

Executive Director MIA recruited

Planning Meeting of Board of Directors held in Burlingame. Set Strategic Directions for implementation of MIA Vision

Strategic Plan to implement MIA Strategic Directions approved by MIA Board and ratified by Members
Catherine McAuley Centre becomes an integral part of Mercy International Centre

Eco Justice/Sustainable Development; Anti Trafficking of Women & Children;
Emergency Response to Global Disasters

2011 March
Global Action Assistant Director appointed to MIA Team and a Mercy Global Network established
First Lenten Programme – Soup & Substance offered on site and on line – Focussed on Global Justice issues in a Theological Reflection context. On line Programme attracted over 1500 participants.

2011 May
Exploration and Think Tank re establishing an MIA Development/Fundraising Initiative begun

2011 July
First month long Mercy renewal programme (Wellsprings) launched at MIC and an accompanying e-programme uploaded to Mercy world website. (Further Wellspring Programmes in 2012 & 2013)

2011 August
First Youth Pilgrimage to MIC – 0ver 150 students attended. (Second in 2013)
Mercyworld Website and Social Media enhanced the immediate and follow up experience

2011 November
‘Good Cup of Tea’ Project took place- a global hospitality project with a Fundraising element. Raised €100,000
Newly refurbished entrance area officially opened, marking the completion of an MIA ‘branding’ endeavour with a single distinctive, message logo and image adopted across all MIA elements and communications to identify
and proclaim its mission and values

2012 January
Global Action Team in conjunction with Mercy around the world begin a campaign of education and advocacy to effect outcomes of RIO+20 Conference

2012 March
Two on line programmes: Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, co-ordinated by Kathleen Rushton rsm (ANZ) in conjunction with Duquesne University (US) offered to Mercy Sisters and Associates worldwide

2012 April
Research project to oppose Trafficking in the Hospitality industry begun.
Meeting of 2nd. World Mercy Congregational Representatives (WMCRC) for the Canonisation of Catherine McAuley
2012 May MIA Members (Mercy Leaders) are presented by Mary Sullivan, rsm with ‘The Path of Mercy’, the authorized biography of Catherine McAuley, which Mary researched and published in response to a request from the Members

2012 August
Fundraising/Development Director appointed. Case Statement and promotional Video produced
Major project on digitising Archival material at MIC begun. As well as this being a security measure, it will give wider access to these resources. Led to discovery of an original image of Catherine McAuley

2012 October
A review of pilgrimages and programmes at MIC highlights a major increase in the numbers of Partners in Ministry and students engaging in pilgrimages, programmes and tours at MIC

2013 January
Intensive work at UN on identifying entry points into the post 2015 Development Agenda

2013 February
Mercy e-News celebrated its 500th edition of publication.
2nd. Three year Strategic Plan launched

2013 May Training in advocacy, grounded in Theological Reflection, organised by Global Action Team and offered to Mercy participants at UN

2013 November
Co-ordinated Mercy Response to disaster in the Philippines as a result of Typhoon Haiyan. Over half a million euro donated

2014 January
Launch of 20th Anniversary of MIA celebrations
