“Coolock” is a small Pastoral / Retreat house. It is situated next door to Saint Bernard’s Convent Newcastle under Lyme and in the shadow of No.1 London Road. It is run by Sister Betty Larkin and Sister Bridie Stephens of the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy.
The Vision and purpose of the house:
The Sisters have created a house of spirituality for small groups for days of prayer, retreats and study. Holy Trinity parish use “Coolock” for RCIA, Baptism preparation, Marriage preparation, Confirmation and First Communion programmes.
Alongside this run days of prayer for Mercy Associates, Youth Associates and Parishioners. Schools also use the centre for staff study days, and the Hospital and University for Chaplaincy away days.
To aid these study and prayer days, prayer gardens have been developed, e.g. the Stations of the Cross Garden, Saint Frances Garden, The Liturgical Garden and Our Lady’s Garden.

Eight en-suite bedrooms, seven are twin and one single – one has wheelchair access. All have tea/coffee making facilities and TV.
Lounge with TV and DVD. (Capacity 12).
Conference room equipped with flipchart, TV, music centre tea/coffee making facility (Capacity 24). Study room / overflow dining room also equipped with flipchart and TV. (Capacity 10) Chapel (Capacity 10). Dining room (accommodating 24).
Kitchen fully equipped and can be used for self-catering.
