Mercy Day
In the fresh greenness of a late Dublin spring, forty members of nine Mercy leadership teams from around the world gathered in the days between Easter and Pentecost, rejoicing in our shared charism and daring to roll away stones and buy spices. Immersed in the context of the universe story and feeling our hearts burning with new hope, we deepened our sense of interconnection by telling our Mercy story, our sense of interdependence by seeking creative ways to support our Mercy story, and our sense of interaction by exploring new ways of living our Mercy story.

We affirmed the stepping stones which have led us to this moment in time. We acknowledged the stumbling blocks encountered along the way. We grew in our understanding and our appreciation of the work done by the MIA team to date and the ways in which they will support us in our journey of bringing the new MIA vision to life. We celebrated in our conversations and in our communion what Earth is ever telling us – that diversity is essential to oneness.

We reflected on the connections between the MIA Vision statement and the Chapter statements of our congregations and institutes. Amazed by our shared passion for mercy and grateful for the gift of technology to enable our global connectedness, we promised to deepen these connections as each leadership team returned to share the experience with all our Sisters. We left the sacred place of our gathering ready to begin anew our lived Pentecost encouraged by the echo of God’s word, “See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Is 43:19)
