MId-Atlantic Mercy Community Gather

Over 560 sisters from the Mid-Atlantic Community of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas gathered together at Misericordia University in Dallas, PA, for the Mid-Atlantic Community Convocation which was held from Wednesday, July 8, to Sunday, July 12.

'Passion, Purpose, and Promise – A Path to the Future', the theme of the Convocation, was integrated throughout the presentations of speakers such as Lynn Levo, CSJ, the director of education at Saint Luke Institute, Deirdre Mullan rsm the director of Mercy Global Concern, Sarah McFarland Taylor, an associate professor of Religious Studies at Northwestern University, the Mid-Atlantic Community leadership team, and Mary Waskowiak rsm, the president of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy.

Throughout the five days sisters prayed, worshipped, listened, learned, contemplated and discussed together their passion, purpose, and promise for the future. On Friday night, candidate Jacqueline Nedd was received into the Mid-Atlantic Community during Solemn Vespers. The 528 sisters from the Mid-Atlantic Community unable to attend the Convocation held the participating sisters and the new candidate in their prayers.

At the close of the Convocation, the Mid-Atlantic Community leadership team missioned sisters and the 18 associates present to '…be lured by the God of endless Mercy to open their hearts to the prophetic presence of those made poor by the brokenness, incompleteness, or imbalance of our time.'
