MIA Prayer Intention: Joys and Sorrows Mingled

Last Friday, a troubled young student at Sante Fe high school in Texas shot and killed two substitute teachers and eight of his classmates and wounded thirteen others. Last Friday, an ageing Cuban airliner carrying 113 people crashed shortly after take-off. The two survivors are in a critical condition. Last Friday, in Ireland, the searches continued for two missing young women, both only daughters. They have since been found, brutally murdered in two separate incidents.

Let us remember in our prayers all who sorrow, mourn and grieve, that they may be comforted, supported and strengthened in their devastating loss.

Last Saturday, much of the world's attention was captured by the joy of two people pledging themselves to each other in marriage. In the UK— and elsewhere— happiness reigned. For a few hours at least, while celebrations took place, a new world order seemed possible because of the power of love.

Let us pray for hearts true to the mission of Jesus that we might live in fidelity to the call of the gospel.
