Mercy Day
Editor: Today, 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, formally concludes the Season of Creation, but not our efforts to hear anew and respond to 'the cry of the Earth and the cry of the Poor'.
Over the weeks of this Season, as our attention has been drawn to the beauty of our world, particularly through the lenses of our Mercy network photographers, we have heard the cries magnified in reports of the impacts of Wildfires, Floods, Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Tornadoes, the likelihood of Volcanoes and the exodus of the Rohingya from Myanmar. While enjoying beauty, gazing in wonder and celebrating our Mercy story, our prayers and thoughts have been with Earth and the Earth community experiencing enormous suffering, utter degradation in parts and ongoing displacement of vulnerable persons.
All Sisters, partners-in-Mercy and all who engaged in the Process are invited in the MIRP 6 month Update: Mercy Global Presence – Emerging/Presencia Global De la Misericordia -Emergente to take the next steps, 'faithful to the spirit' and 'to build on all that has happened since the MIRP Report was released'. Eight steps for action have been identified on page 3 of the Update.
We encourage, welcome and look forward to you sharing your response to this invitation with the Mercy world over the coming weeks through MercyeNews .
