Pictorial Souvenir Booklet Marks 190 Years Since Opening of the First House of Mercy

Editor: 24 September marks 190 years since the opening of Baggot Street, the first House of Mercy. As one of the events to mark the significance of the occasion, MIA has produced a pictorial booklet on the history of Baggot Street which will be launched by Mary Reynolds rsm on Mercy Day.

MIC being a Heritage House, photography by the public is not permitted in certain areas, so the large and full page professionally taken photos  that accompany the text— for example, the Immaculate Conception window in the chapel, the Callaghan room and a number of illuminations by Clare Augustine Moore— will be greatly appreciated as a visual record of some of the features of Catherine's House, now Mercy International Centre.

The 36 page, A4 size, full colour booklet is both an informative introduction to the First House of Mercy and an attractive souvenir of a visit here. It can be used in preparation— or follow up —from a personal or group pilgrimage and as a resource for teaching the life of Catherine McAuley, the spread of Mercy across the globe and the contemporary Mercy story.

Booklets are €8 each plus €2.50 posted in Ireland and to the UK. Rest of world postage: €4.25 for one booklet and €5.50 for two copies.
