Message to President Xanana Gusmao

The Sisters of Mercy throughout the world rejoice with you and the people of East Timor at this time of recognition of your country as a Nation.

We celebrate the statement which your new nation makes to the world, that belief and hope can eventually overcome the pain of injustice. We admire and respect the courage of your people and assure you of our continuing prayer and support for the healing of your land.
