Mercy Day
On behalf of the Sisters of Mercy of the Western Province, we invite you to be with us in Ballintubber Abbey to celebrate this Year of Mercy. We gather with a song of joy and gratitude in our hearts, in the true and certain knowledge that God’s Mercy Has Found Us.
Evening of Prayer in Ballintubber Abbey on Sunday September 25, 7.30 - 9.30 pm.
In this Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has invited us to consider pilgrimage as a way of experiencing God’s love, mercy and forgiveness. This evening we take up that invitation. And here in this beautiful Abbey, situated as it is at the beginning of Tochar Phádraig, the ancient pilgrimage route to Croagh Patrick, is the perfect setting for our Pilgrimage of Mercy. So let us drink-in the sacred atmosphere: a legacy of 800 years of prayer and reflection.
The evening of Prayer will begin with Monastic Chant as people enter the Abbey. An Opening Procession will be of 12 people bearing Candles. For the Welcome and Introduction, Fr. Frank Fahey will speak on Mercy from Age to Age. Deirdre Ní Chinnéide and Musicians will lead us on an hour long Journey of the Heart. Fr Frank will draw the evening to a close, sending us forth in hope and light.
God knows us and loves us just as we are. God wants us to be happy.
