MercyFirst is a sponsored ministry of the Mid Atlantic Community and one of New York’s leading not-for-profit human service agencies. The St. Mary’s Campus, founded in 1894 in Syosset and the Angel Guardian Campus, founded in 1899 in Brooklyn were sister orphanages. MercyFirst today offers an integrated continuum of care for children in need, from birth through adolescence, including children who have been neglected and abused; youth with serious emotional problems; teenagers and young adults who are without family; and families coping with the stress and pressures of poverty, domestic violence, mental illness and substance abuse.

Maureen King rsm and Margaret Dempsey rsm conducted prayer services at the two Doors of Mercy in the agency in which approximately 50 staff and sisters from the local areas attended. As Pope Francis stated, in this coming Year of Mercy, 'the Holy Door will become a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God'.

The Doors at MercyFirst have been Doors of Mercy for 121 years and will continue to be to the children, teens and families we serve for years to come.
