Updated: Thanks and Request for Continued Prayers: Cyclone Haguput (Ruby)

The Religious Sisters of Mercy (Philippines) request the prayers of the Mercy Family in response to the threat of another terrible typhoon approaching the Philippines.

Dear Sisters and Friends,
Thank you so much for storming Heaven with your prayers. The lash of typhoon Hagupit/Ruby passed us unscathed, though with minimal destruction, thanks be to God. It was scary though for it stayed for more than 12 hours. No casualties among our evacuees and no reported casualties in our neighborhood. The field and some classrooms in our school got flooded so the evacuees who occupied the flooded classrooms had to go up to the 2nd floor in spite of the fear that the roof above them would tear off and be blown away as what happened in Haiyan/Yolanda last year. Our other houses & ministries have very minimal destruction. Praise the Lord for blessings!

Dear Sisters,
Thank you so much for your prayers. Please thank the Sisters too. Thanks be to God, we survived the long terrible typhoon. I consider it worse than Haiyan/Yolanda which lasted only for 3 & a half hours (though our weather reports say it was not as strong) because Hagupit/Ruby lasted for more than 12 hours. Besides, it was during the dark of the night as there was no electricity. I haven't inquired yet about our neighbors and evacuues in school because I slept at 3 a.m. and woke up only now. Many thanks again.

'Dear Sisters,
Please help us pray for protection from evil and harm as a stronger storm is approaching our area. Our school is now filled with evacuees. The cyclone's international name is Hagupit. The local name is Ruby.
