Mercy Day
The great feast that unites the Mercy world is Mercy Day.
Its origin dates back to September 24th. 1827 when the House on Baggot Street opened as a school for the education of poor young girls and as a residence for homeless girls and women.
Happy Mercy Day to all!
Our heartfelt greetings to one and all for Mercy Day Celebrations as we approach the 20th Anniversary of Mercy International Centre in our efforts to make our Mercy Spirituality relevant to wherever we are in the world on this day and age. We joyfully greet each one with great hopes in our hearts to heed the call for Mercy by reaching out to the distressed in whatever way we can as needed.
Happy Mercy Day to all!

God bless all the Sisters of Mercy throughout the world. My two sisters, one brother and myself were educated by the Sisters of Mercy in Wellington – St Catherine’s primary school in Kilbirnie and thereafter St Mary’s College in Wellington. We are so fortunate to have had such a wonderful and Catholic education and even although I am now a mother of five children, grandmother of 17, and great-grandmother of four (and another expected), we are so thankful to the sisters whom we have encountered during our lives and for the great example of love and compassion so freely given by Catherine McAuley, so please accept our greetings to all who are celebrating Mercy Day on 24 September.

May we celebrate this day, September 24, 2013, in the spirit of Catherine McAuley, opening our doors to the poor, sick and uneducated as she did at Baggott Street 186 years ago today.
In times like ours when anxiety, fear, homelessness and loneliness are as real as they were in her day, may we always extend our welcome, warmth, joy and practical service wherever our journeys take us.
May we celebrate the oneness that is ours, the story and spirituality we share and the mission that drives us as we trip about, always knowing that our center is in God who sends us forth and draws us home.

as a gift of God.
