Mercy Global Concern Program

Mercy Global Concern (MGC) is offering a two (2) week in-service program for Sisters of Mercy at the United Nations in New York City, September 5-16, 2005. The program will include,

  • A workshop on the use of the CD-rom, Mercy and Justice Shall Meet, Tuesday, September 6, 2005;
  • The annual DPI-NGO conference, Our Challenge: Voices for Peace, Partnerships and Renewal, held at UN headquarters in New York City, September 7-9, 2005; and,
  • A workshop, Bridging the Gap Between Policy and Practice, September 12-16, 2005. This workshop is an opportunity to interact and network with other UN-affiliated NGOs, e.g., Amnesty International, Rotary International, Salvation Army, Religious Orders Partnership (ROP), among others.

Mercy Global Concern invites interested Sisters of Mercy to apply for one (1) of six (6) places. In selecting participants for the MGC in-service program, priority will be given to Sisters of Mercy whose work focuses on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), or to Sisters of Mercy who work in the Developing World. Participants selected to attend the MGC program are expected to participate in all of its component parts.

MGC can offer some financial assistance to Sisters of Mercy so that they can participate in this program.

Participants are responsible to check with their own governments as to whether or not they need a visa to enter the USA. Obtaining the appropriate Visa is each participant’s responsibility.

If you are interested in being part of the MGC in-service program, please contact Deirdre Mullan, RSM at Mercyun@aol.com by Friday May 27, 2005.
