MIA Prayer Intention: For the Lonely and Socially Isolated

Not surprisingly, research shows that loneliness and social isolation are harmful to our physical and mental health. In their meeting last Saturday, Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople named loneliness as one of the world's 'deepest problems', part of the 'globalisation of indifference'.

Let us pray for all people coping with loneliness and social isolation that they may experience acceptance and companionship. Let us determine that we will continue to be for all whom we encounter 'the kind word, the gentle, compassionate look and the patient hearing of their sorrows'. (Familiar instructions, p.138)
