Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network: The 2016 Intentions

A global initiative spreading the word of the monthly prayer intentions of Pope Francis related to the challenges of the world we live in. Here, in reverse chronological order, are all the intentions from 2016. Each is linked to its accompanying video. You may wish to follow up on any you missed.

November: Countries Receiving Refugees That the countries which take in a great number of displaced persons and refugees may find support for their efforts which show solidarity.	December: End to Child Soldiers That the scandal of child-soldiers may be eliminated the world over

September: For a More Human Society That each may contribute to the common good & to the building of a society that places the human person at the centre	October:Journalists That journalists, in carrying out their work, may always be motivated by respect for truth and a strong sense of ethics

July: Indigenous Peoples That indigenous peoples, whose identity and very existence are threatened, will be shown due respect	August: Sports, a Culture of Encounter That sports may be an opportunity for friendly encounters between peoples & may contribute to peace in the world

May: Respect for Women That in every country of the world women may be honoured and respected and that their essential contribution to society may be highly esteemed	June: Solidarity in Cities That the aged, marginalised, and those who have no one may find - even with the huge cities of the world- opportunities for encounter & solidarity

March: Children  & Families in Difficulty That families may receive the necessary support and that children may grow up in healthy and peaceful environments	April: Small Farmers That small farmers may receive just compensation for their invaluable work

January: Interreligious Dialogue That sincere dialogue among men & women of different faiths may produce the fruits of peace & justice	February: Care for Creation That we may take good care of creation - a gift freely given- cultivating & protecting it for future generations

Each month the Pope entrusts two prayer intentions to his Worldwide Prayer Network, the Apostleship of Prayer. These intentions express his great concern for humanity and the mission of the Church. They are a global call to transform our prayers into “concrete gestures” of service. They are a monthly action plan mobilizing us to work together to build a more humane and caring world .
