Greetings to Sisters of Mercy and all people of Mercy as we celebrate Mercy Day in the special Year of Mercy.
From across the world we have read, heard and seen profound reflections on mercy as we experience it among human beings and Mercy as a name for God. Our Constitutions remind us “our gift as Sisters of Mercy is to know God’s loving kindness and to share it with others. Our name reminds us that God can be mercy for others through us only when we open ourselves to receive God’s mercy.” (1.03 ISMAPNG Constitutions) We know that many who are not Sisters of Mercy share this great gift. We pray that our hearts will be open to receive these gifts and bring them to our corporal and spiritual works of Mercy.

Greetings Mercy Family! Wherever you are, raise a “teacup" of cheer and celebrate this wonderful day, and a community that lives out God’s grace and love! How blessed we are by the Spirit of Mercy, a spirit that helps our young women grow in becoming the best version of oneself!
May this year be filled with countless blessings, and grace-filled moments, and to you and yours Mother of Mercy in Cincinnati says, “cheers!”.
In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, and in celebration of Mercy Day, we are reminded of the impact our 44 newly-commissioned Mercy Volunteers will have this year on people who are marginalized. These women and men have responded to the invitation from the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Volunteer Corps to embrace compassionate service, social justice, and spiritual growth in the context of a simple lifestyle in community.
As we celebrate and remember September 24, 1827, the day on which the first House of Mercy opened in Dublin, Ireland, we continue to be grateful for all those who dedicate time, energy and financial resources to our mission and to bringing Catherine’s vision into the twenty-first century with the belief that what we all do makes a difference. Thank you for all you do to support the mission of Mercy Volunteer Corps and to support the Mercy Volunteers! Happy Mercy Day!

Mercy Day Blessings from the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas!
May the blessing of mercy carry us through each day.
May mercy be tattooed on our hearts and minds
to speak the truth in love
as we go about the ministry of our life.
May mercy be sown deeply in our souls,
core to our identity, who we are in mercy.
May mercy invite mercy to be the prophetic voice
in this moment of time.
May the word of God that is in our hearts
spill mercy over Earth
to light the way toward peace.
May mercy be seeded in our hearts
sown and cultivated by the work of our lives.
May we know we are the body of Christ,
one mercy ... women open to respond
to the needs of our time ...
“My God, I am yours for time and eternity.”
May God use our hands to feed the hungry, to build community;
our eyes to see the needs of others,
to hear the cries that are carried in the wind
across oceans and desert lands and in our cities,
to speak tenderness and love,
to be mercy here and now.
May we bless the other in mercy
over and over and over again.
