There is No Planet B

Announcements: September 22, 2013

In our work on Sustainable Development and promoting Eco-Justice and the Rights of Nature, we continue to learn from organizations on acknowledging and realizing the rights of nature. Two such organizations are the Global Exchange and the Earth Law Center

Global Exchange invited guest blog writer, Linda Sheehan, of Earth Law Center, to post, “There is no Planet B. We cannot separate what we do to the Earth from what we do to ourselves.”

We encourage you to take a look at this must-read blog posting

Mercy worldwide have both a tremendous opportunity and challenge at this historic moment in the global discussions on the Post 2015 Development Agenda and on the development of Sustainable Development Goals to acknowledge the rights of nature and to aim for“ sustainable and thriving communities of humans and ecosystems flourishing together.”

Resources and More information:
A great resource for gaining understanding of the latest UN processes is the " Post-2015 Primer Series"

Launched through the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS), this newsletter provides general information on the UN process for setting a new international environmental and social agenda. The NGLS wants to ensure entry points for civil society seeking to engage with these processes, which are explained through these primers.
