Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Young Mercy Leaders Pilgrimage
Editor: The second biennial Young Mercy Leaders pilgrimage has come to its conclusion. Some pilgrims have continued on to Rio for World Youth Day, the others have headed home to their countries of origin. All carry with them wonderful memories of the experience of global Mercy alive in Baggot Street Dublin and of personal connections, newly made there.
How Catherine would have rejoiced at the energy, exuberance and enthusiasm for Mercy shared by these young people in the Baggot Street garden and building over those four days as they gathered, prayed, spoke, shared, listened, learned, sang and danced together.
Experience some of the spirit of these days through the reports compiled by the Pilgrimage Communications Team, posted on the mercyworld.org website and linked below, or check out the YML Facebook page MIA Young Mercy Leaders which had a constant stream of visitors over these four days:

Zimmerman Verdict: Time for Prayer, Reflection and Raising Our Voices (Americas)
The verdict of “not guilty” in the George Zimmerman trial and the reactions surrounding the killing of African-American teen Trayvon Martin are tragic occasions to pause and reflect on the deep wounds of racism in the United States and beyond. Mainly peaceful protests in cities across the country have given expression to the outrage and drawn attention to the roots of racism in so much of the violence that occurs today...

Bronze Statue of Catherine McAuley Unveiled (Brisbane Congregation)
A bronze statue of Catherine McAuley along with those of Edmund Rice, former Premier of Queensland Vince Gair and Archbishop Sir James Duhig was unveiled recently as a way of recognising the people who had played a significant role in the history of St Laurence’s College (SLC), Queensland.
Inclusion of Catherine McAuley symbolises the enduring partnership with the Mater Hospital Brisbane which began in 1919 when the Sisters took over the school building as a hospital extension during the flu epidemic.

Catherine McAuley Westmead Students Show Mercy in Action (Parramatta Congregation)
Mercy in Action Group students at Catherine McAuley Westmead have begun fundraising for their fundraising project this term which is the Mercy Foundation’s concept of ‘Home in a Box’. This Mercy Foundation initiative has the aim of settling homeless people into homes with all the essential items including sheets, towels, pillows, kitchenware and utensils. The students at Catherine McAuley have been collecting loose change donations from students at lunchtime with all money raised going to the Mercy Foundation’s commitment to help Australians overcome homelessness.
The committed group of students from Catherine McAuley who make up the Mercy in Action Group (known throughout the school as MAG) regularly attend MAG events with fellow Mercy schools in Sydney and work throughout the school on fundraising and raising awareness on different social justice issues.

Apps have been created of the "Mercy Prayerbook" and "Oracion Misericordia" for both the Android (google play) and Apple app stores. They are free in the PHONE stores, but work on tablets and iPads as well as phones.
The benefit of the app is the ability to enlarge type for easier reading, and being able to have the prayerbook when traveling without having to pack it.
