Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Watering the Roots at the Wellspring of Mercy (MIA)
Editor: Watering the Roots at the Wellspring of Mercy –a month long renewal programme for Sisters of Mercy, now in its third year—commenced on 2 June. This month Sisters of Mercy from Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, Kenya, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Peru, and the United States have gathered at Mercy International Centre to seek refreshment and renewal and to discern more clearly in the invitation of the Spirit how to live out the mission of Mercy in our church and world.
Last week (2-7 June) Marie Chin rsm (Americas) addressed the topic Religious Life: A Deep-down Impulse to Care and Make Creation Whole, leading the group in exploration of religious life in light of the current global reality of our unfolding contemporary story and in an examination of the vows. 'Religious vows', says Marie, 'can be experienced as the elegant choices we make daily for the sacred task of doing the transformative work necessary to bring healing and wholeness to our world.'
Over these next four weeks (June 12, 19, 26 and July 3) the Mercy E-News Feature will highlight the input from each of this year's four presenters: Marie Chin rsm (Americas), Veronica Lawson rsm (ISMAPNG), Madeline Duckett rsm (ISMAPNG) and Janet Ruffing rsm (Americas), so enabling the richness of their input to be more widely shared amongst the members of the Mercy community.
