The Sisters of Mercy are Hitting the Road for Immigration Reform (Americas)

The Sisters of Mercy are hitting the road with Nuns on the Bus for the second year, and this time they’re raising their voices for fair and comprehensive immigration reform that puts families and basic human needs first. With Senate immigration reform bill S.744 ready to move to the Senate floor for discussion and a vote in early June, six Sisters of Mercy, along with Catholic sisters from around the country, will travel across 6,500 miles and 15 states stopping at faith-based communities and congressional offices to rally with those who aspire for change in America’s immigration system...

Mercy sisters, associates, staff and advocates will be waiting along the route of the Nuns on the Bus tour as they stop in each city. Sister Anne Curtis from the Sisters of Mercy Institute Leadership Team states, “We are thrilled that the Sisters of Mercy can contribute to lifting up the realities of the broken immigration system at this critical time for comprehensive immigration reform. For too long, children have been separated from their parents by deportations, and hardworking immigrants have been deprived of their human dignity and forced to live in the shadows of society..."
