Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Graced Companionship: A Metaphor for Religious Leadership Today (Americas)

Editor: Over 800 congregational leaders representing 76 countries gathered in Rome last week for the conference of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG). On Day 3 they were invited by Mary Pat Garvin rsm in her warm, scholarly, wise, insightful and encouraging presentation 'Graced Companionship: A Metaphor for Religious Leadership Today' to explore 'how the mission of leadership today is and has always been about taking on of the mind and heart of Jesus; thus leading our congregations as Jesus led his disciples - as a graced companion!'  This in order that 'we might deepen our own resemblance to Jesus...becoming or strengthening our capacity to be graced companions offering vision, energy, challenge and courage to our Sisters as they minister this very day to God's people.'
