Mercy Enews
No. 500 | 06 February 2013

Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Mercy E-News Celebrates its 500th edition! (MIA)

Editor: "Celebrating the 500th edition of Mercy eNews offers us the opportunity to look back on almost 12 years of a journey,' writes Mary Reynolds in an article tracing the origins of the MIA website and the creation of the Mercy e-newsletter, first published on 13 August 2001 and for 48 weeks of each year since.

From the beginning of the Institute the letters of Catherine and other Mercy writings have been a source of union and strength among Sisters and have become central to Mercy life.

In the messages received from readers around the Mercy world to mark this occasion, we hear how the telling and sharing of the Mercy story through this communal newsletter opens them to the needs of the world and strengthens them for mission.

May the rich selection of Mercy stories each week continue to inspire, to nourish and to animate us all.

Messages to: Mary Reynolds rsm - Executive Director MIA
