Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Religious Sisters of Mercy Philippines Hold Their Seventh General Chapter (Philippines)

On April 9-13, 2012, we, the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Philippines in our 22nd year of autonomy as a Religious Congregation, with Pontifical Right since 1981, and in our 57th year of presence in the Philippines, held our 7th General Chapter of Affairs to review Mercy Life and Ministry with the theme, “Mercy @ 57: Create Pathways to Renewal, and Rediscover New Forms of Mission in the context of Mercy Spirituality and Community Dynamism”..

The Chapter was facilitated by Rev. Father Cruzito Manding CSsR, Provincial Superior of Cebu Redemptorist Province in the Philippines. His opening message was a call to honesty in sincere humility to discern where God is leading us to in our restructuring/refounding of the Congregation in an “Areopagus”. He reminded us that the Chapter is a call to conversion from our doubts, worries and fears to a deeper commitment of Faith as Mercy Sisters...

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) May 17
Theme 2012: "Women and Girls in ICT"

" ...we should work to optimize the power of information and communications technology to support sustainable development. By gathering, disseminating and analyzing information, we can accelerate action to protect natural resources, combat climate change and help vulnerable people, including women and girls.

This is especially important in the context of the “Rio+20” United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, to be held next month in Brazil. In the final run-up to the Conference, and then especially afterwards as we implement the decisions taken there, information and communications technology can make possible new approaches and solutions for a sustainable future."  Ban Ki-Moon - UN Secretary-General
