As reported in Mercy E-News ( October 12, Edition 435) on Saturday 29th October, seven Sisters of Mercy and three family members of Sisters of Mercy will travel to Haiti to participate in Build it Week with the Haven Partnership.
Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers as they undertake this practical response to extreme poverty in Haiti and undergo an experience which will be both challenging and life changing for all involved.

Mercy to establish virtual care center (Americas)
A virtual care center and a new hospital in St. Charles County are among the $4.6 billion in health care investments that Mercy will make across Missouri over the next eight years
The virtual care center – the first of its kind in the U.S.– will provide around-the-clock telemedicine to outlying care centers across the four states in which Mercy operates: Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Mercy’s existing telemedicine program – an electronic intensive care unit (ICU) called Mercy SafeWatch – provides virtual care to more than 400 patients across the Midwest. Using computers, specially trained doctors and ICU nurses monitor vital signs and even talk with patients through bedside cameras at hospitals that in some cases are hundreds of miles away.
The new center will enable Mercy to expand its telemedicine to additional ICUs and other sites, such as hospital emergency rooms, reaching into more remote areas that might not have easy access to medical specialists.
