Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Feature

Together we can help make a difference (The Congregation)

Editor: Readers will remember that on April 2nd, 2011 six Sisters of Mercy from The Congregation (Ireland) set off for Haiti, along with 350 other volunteers, to work on the Haven Partnership Build it Week 2011. The sisters had been ready to go to Haiti in October 2010, but it was postponed due to cholera.

On 29th October 2011, seven Sisters of Mercy will travel to Haiti to participate in Build it Week with the Haven Partnership, along with three family members of the sisters... On this occasion, the Sisters of Mercy and the Haven volunteers will be working in the epicentre of the earthquake, a place called Leogane- 18 miles outside Port Au Prince, capital of Haiti.

Let us continue to encourage and support the Sisters who are at this time busy fundraising and preparing physically to respond to extreme poverty in Haiti and an experience which will be both challenging and life changing for all involved.
