Disaster in the Horn of Africa (The Congregation)
The current drought in the Turkana County of Kenya’s Rift Valley Province threatens the traditional pastoralist lifestyle of its communities, who up to now had managed to survive in the harsh, arid climate of northwestern Kenya. Water and grazing land have become so precious, in fact, that there has been an increase in the use of small arms to settle disputes over access to natural resources.
The current situation is the cumulative result of a drought that is stressing the lives of the pastoralist community in Turkana County. Arguably, no other region in Kenya has been harder hit by this drought than Turkana.
Details of how your donation can assist this region where Sisters of Mercy live and minister are linked to this item.

Mercy Associates Extend Welcome to Bhutanese Refugees (Americas)
What began as a chance meeting nearly seven months ago when Mercy Associate Lincoln Sigwald first met a Bhutanese family is quickly developing into a full-fledge effort among Mercy associates in Charlotte, North Carolina USA...
When asked what Mercy Associates do for the Bhutanese people, Sigwald responds, “It is not so much about what we ‘do.’ It is far more about who we ‘are’ to the Bhutanese people. In a very real sense, we try to ‘enflesh’ Mercy by being present to them, meeting them where they are, and companioning with Bhutanese families along their journey. We hope to share God’s love and compassion by extending hospitality to those who have never experienced ‘welcome’ as gift.

Celebration of Foundation at Sandy Point (Newfoundland)
...The story of the St. George’ s foundation is the story of courageous women, women grounded in faith, steeped in a sense of mission, committed to bringing about God’s reign wherever and however they could, all the while strengthened by the mission itself and by the love and support of the people they had come to serve. This, of course, did not mean that the difficulties of daily life in their new homeland did not affect them, discourage them at times or cause them to question their choices. They were human and, like us, had to deal with life as it unfolded each day, both with its predictabilities and its surprises.
Sister Mary Antonio and her sisters have left us a rich heritage, a heritage shaped by vision, passion, compassion and dedication. We are immeasurably blessed by the life and ministry of these great women of Mercy, who illuminate the pages of our Mercy story.

Sisters of Mercy of Papua New Guinea gather (Australia/PNG)
From 18th to 21st July the Sisters of Mercy of Papua New Guinea gathered together in Goroka, staying at the Kefamo Pastoral Centre. While the showers may have been cold, the gathering had its own warmth as we shared stories along with much laughter and time to pray together.
