Brisbane pilgrimage to Mercy International Centre (Australia)
This year is a special year for the Sisters of Mercy in Brisbane as they celebrate the 150th anniversary of their founding.
One of the events to mark the occasion was a ten-day pilgrimage to Ireland by twenty-four of the community. On Saturday, June 18 those twenty four Sisters gathered in Mercy International Centre to begin the pilgrimage. They were welcomed ‘home’ by Mary Reynolds and there followed a moving opening ritual during which each participant chose a shell as a symbol of the journey they were about to undertake and lit her pilgrimage candle.

Celebrating the works of Mercy in Nenagh since 1854 (The Congregation)
Societies can forget that they became great through the unremembered idealists that are its ordinary teachers, carers and listeners.
This year two Sisters - Anne O’Callaghan and Joan O’Carroll retired from Nenagh Primary School. The Parish marked the occasion with a ‘thank you’ celebration of all the Sisters have done down through the years and continue to do in Nenagh. One of their past pupils, Margaret Roche Scroope, gave the reflection on the occasion which traces the Mercy history of Nenagh since its foundation from Birr in 1854.

The Office of Social Concern in the Diocese of San Bernardino, California has set up a Trafficking Committee to increase people’s awareness of this scourge of our time. We try to provide immediate help for trafficked people...

Gone in 60 seconds; the death of the attention span
'... Do we need to be able to slow down and think deeply about things, when information about everything is instantly available? My guess is...yes. Because there is a difference between information and meaning. The former can be had right now, no waiting, no obligations, no problemo. The latter comes only with time and effort..'
