Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Stop Deportations! Stop Ripping Families Apart! (Americas)

At a public witness on June 25 at Saint Xavier University in Chicago where the Institute Chapter is being held more than 400 Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Associates, and Mercy co-ministers from across North, South and Central America, along with representatives from local and state justice organizations urged others to join in their efforts to stop deportations of immigrants in the United States.

“The Sisters of Mercy came to this country as immigrants from Ireland and for more than 150 years we have ministered to immigrants in schools, hospitals, parishes and social service centers. This is who we are. This is what we do.” Sr. Mary Waskowiak, president of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas explained.
