Prayers requested for tornado victims ( Americas)
The Sisters of Mercy are praying for the hundreds of thousands of people in Alabama, Mississippi and other parts of the South and Midwest who have been devastated by the recent tornadoes that have taken hundreds of lives and destroyed homes, schools, churches and businesses.

Human rights in Honduras - an urgent call for action (Americas)
The Sisters of Mercy continue to advocate for human rights in Honduras, where the people are experiencing repression and violence. Members of the Sisters of Mercy Institute Justice Team and Institute Leadership Team have recently been involved in a congressional briefing with human rights defenders from Honduras and meetings with the U.S. State Department.

Mercy ministry now and in the future (The Congregation)
" I want someplace safe. Some place to be a girl.” These could have been words spoken to Catherine McAuley by a young Dublin girl nearly two centuries ago – they are the sentiments that inspired Catherine to establish her House of Mercy on Baggot Street – but these are not the words of a poor Irish girl in 19th century Dublin. They are the words of a sixteen-year-old South African girl in 2011 – an orphan, who is HIV positive, homeless, and selling her body to passing truckers. This young girl’s request is a simple one, but it is not an isolated one, for it is the request uttered by dozens of women and girls in countries as different but as poor as Haiti and Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Kenya...

Mercy to be honoured (Americas)
Rosemary Connelly rsm (West Midwest) will join Henry Ford; John F. Kennedy; Maureen O’Hara; Francis Patrick Healy, SJ; Richard J. Daley; George Mitchell; Chief Francis O’Neill; Robert Fulton and Jack Dempsey as a new member of the Irish American Hall of Fame.
Sister Rosemary has served as executive director of Misericordia Homes in Chicago, Illinois, for more than 40 years. When she began her role in 1969, Misericordia Heart of Mercy only cared for children under six years of age. Today the home serves more than 600 children and adults with developmental disabilities. Sister Rosemary will be inducted at a ceremony on May 14, 2011, at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago, Illinois.
