Mercy President Enjoys Easter Prayer Breakfast with President Obama (Americas)

April 21, 2011 – This Holy Week Sisters of Mercy President Mary Waskowiak, RSM, along with approximately 150 other invited faith leaders from a wide range of Christian backgrounds attended Easter Prayer Breakfast hosted by President Obama in the East room of the White House on Tuesday, April 19...

After welcoming those gathered, the President spoke very simply but strongly of the meaning of this week. He spoke of a week that began with the "triumph of Palm Sunday...the simplicity of Holy Thursday...the humiliation and the shame of the cross." "But it didn't end with that. Resurrection came." ..

"This was a unique privilege during this Holy Week and a moment in time that gathered peace and prayer in the midst of incredible world turmoil," said Sr. Mary of the Holy Week gathering at the White House.
