Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Global Action Lived Locally: A Case Study from Ireland
One of the major issues being addressed by the Irish Congregation is the issue of human trafficking, particularly of women for prostitution.
Sr Mary Ryan is working with the major organisation in Ireland working on prostitution, Ruhama, providing a safe house for women who have been trafficked. The work involves accompanying trafficked women to court, helping them access medical and educational services etc. Most of these women come from Africa and Eastern Europe and many do not speak English. Some of the women have been trained in care of the elderly and are now working in that area.

When Silence Falls: The Stations of the Cross
About the book
The stations of the Cross, whether celebrated in our Christian Communities or as a private prayer, call us into the depths of the mystery of God. As we remember again the political, social and religious systems that condemned, violated and killed one innocent man, we are faced with the truth of our own cultural time and the systems we ourselves support.
