Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Catherine's letters gifted by Tullamore Mercy Community (The Congregation)

On Monday, 28th March 2011 four letters of Catherine McAuley,  her Meditation Book and a hand written Rule Book written by Sr. Mary Teresa Purcell in 1840, one year before the Rule was approved by Rome, were handed over to The Congregation Leadership Team, later to be on loan to Mercy International Centre.

Editor: The most recent gift given to the Mercy Congregational Archives in November 2010 was the Tin Deed Box used to store the legal and financial records associated with Catherine McAuley was gifted by the law firm Arthur O’Hagan, whose founder, Arthur O’Hagan, was a partner of Catherine McAuley’s friend and legal adviser, Charles Cavanagh.
