Make a New Year's Resolution for Immigration Reform (Americas)
The Sisters of Mercy’s Institute Justice Team has launched a New Year’s Resolution Campaign for Just and Humane Immigration Reform in 2011, hoping to collect 1,000 pledges from the Mercy family and friends.
The Mercy pledge cards ask each of us to commit to taking an action or series of actions between New Year’s and Easter that further the goals of immigration reform.
Actions include: daily prayer for immigrants, talking about the issue to others, emailing or meeting with politicians, screening a topical film, volunteering, letter writing.
We welcome your pledge.

Spreading good news - the Institute web pages (GB Institute)
From the four corners of the institute they came, by invitation of the web group, to learn about being 'News Hounds'. How they could help spread good news within the institute and the wider world by means of the Institute web pages?
Imagine this truth: on one day there were over 17,000 hits on our website. It evidently interests more than just Sisters of Mercy. It is in fact a window through which anyone can look in on Sisters of Mercy. What they see/read/understand is up to us. It is the good news of Mercy for today's world...
Messages to Cathy Edge rsm - Institute Communications
Editor: The Institute's web page is this week's featured Mercy website.

Sr Marie Michael Power RIP (Newfoundland)
Editor: The Newfoundland Sisters wrote: ' One of our sisters who died in December was known to many sisters throughout the Mercy world. She had been an archivist in our Congregation for 25 years and would probably have had contact with many archivists. We are thinking that sisters worldwide would appreciate hearing of her recent death.'
The Sisters of Mercy of Newfoundland mourn the recent passing of Sister Marie Michael Power in December 2010.
Sister Marie Michael was a strong presence in our Congregation through her ministries of education and leadership. She brought excellence to the field of education as an elementary/secondary school teacher and as administrator.
In 1967 Sister Marie Michael was called to leadership within our congregation, first as congregational treasurer for a period of six years, general councilor for three years and finally as superior general for eight years. For the past twenty-five years her ministry was in the area of archives and heritage of our Congregation.
Sister Marie Michael possessed a keen understanding of the principles of archival work and applied them faithfully to her efforts in gathering and preserving the story of Mercy in Newfoundland and Labrador and Peru. She had an intense love of the Congregation demonstrated in her various ministries and mirrored in the way she applied herself to the field of archives, in the way she held and cared for the documents entrusted to her care, and most especially in her attentiveness to those who came to her for assistance.

Global Action Lived Locally: A Case Study from Cambodia (2)
Australia’s vision for Global Action stems from their Chapter Proclamation of 2010 as follows:

We Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea find ourselves in a new moment, yearning to relate with a new heart to God, to each other and to all of creation...'
The following profile features an example of Sisters of Mercy of Australia embodying their vision in Cambodia.
Sr. Denise Coughlan works with Metta Karuna (meaning Mercy) Reflection Centre in Cambodia. The Centre is a place where foreigners and Cambodians through encountering storytelling, symbols and reflective moments can see the major issues confronting Cambodia through the eyes of the poor..
