Today the Sisters of Mercy are in 47 countries, working in a multitude of ministries with an ever growing group of associates, volunteers and partners all continuing in the spirit of Catherine McAuley. This section of the web platform provides us with an excellent facility for interconnection and communication among this Mercy family. The section has five major parts:
1 By clicking on MORE on the worldwide diagram, an interactive map of the world with the 47 places where the Sisters of Mercy currently live and minister identified and highlighted opens up. By clicking on any particular place on the map, an overview of the history and contemporary ministry of that location can be accessed.
2 In the second major part, entitled MIA Members, details of each of the nine Mercy families can be accessed. Click on any selected icon and the details of that particular group will open up. From this page a direct link can also be used to enter the full website of the particular group.
3 Under the heading Organisations, it is possible to access details on Organisations which are sponsored by Mercy or linked to Mercy Ministries. If your organization is not yet linked here, contact Fraynework at contact@fraynework.com.au
4 The Network login part enables visitors, who have appropriate validation, to access the Mercy Social Network area designed for exchange of ideas, information and experience.
5 By clicking on the Mercy International Centre icon, there is full access to all information pertaining to the Centre - Virtual Tour, History, Programmes, Accommodation, Conference facilities, Gift shop, Donations and Contact details.

The Children of St. Patrick’s School in Glasgow under the leadership of Annette McCartan rsm, understand that education is the gift that keeps on giving.
They had a fun day and raised £750 for those suffering in Pakistan and then contacted me on how best to help.
We Sisters of Mercy run the Notre Dame Teacher Training College and as the chief of UNICEF pointed out in a briefing held at UNICEF house, (located next door to Mercy Global Concern), “in any crisis situation once people are out of danger, have shelter and food security, children need to get back to school.”

Saint Teresa’s Mercy School celebrates 80 years.
This year Saint Teresa’s Mercy School celebrated its eightieth birthday. They marked the occasion by organising a campaign to collect food for those in other Mercy ministries who are less well off and by preparing to participate in the International Science Expo in 2011.
Over five thousand tins of food were collected and distributed. Every child in the school was involved in the effort which ended on Friday 23 July when all the tins were arranged on a sports field in the form of the number 80—quite an achievement. At the end all joined hands, sang ‘Circle of Mercy’ and offered their prayers for all of us in Mercy ministry.

Tragic Effects of Iraq War Call for Action
September 1, 2010 - As U.S. combat troops leave Iraq, Sisters of Mercy reflect on the seven years of U.S. military action in that country, and the tragic outcomes and effects of both that war and the years of sanctions prior to the 2003 U.S. invasion.
In March 2003, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, supporting their commitment to the practice of nonviolence, publicly stated their opposition to the use of military force against the people of Iraq. Click here to read the Sisters of Mercy Public Statement Opposing War Against Iraq.
During the seven years of war:
4,420 U.S. military personnel killed
Nearly 32,000 U.S. military personnel seriously wounded
An estimated 97,000 to 106,460 Iraqi civilians died*
$900 billion U.S. tax dollars spent
4.7 million Iraqis fled their homes to become refugees within Iraq or in other countries.

Where Sisters of Mercy Minister: Zambia (30)
The Sisters of Mercy first arrived in Zambia in 1971 when Irish Sisters of Mercy Mary Cudden, Agnes Hannon and Veronica Moore became missionaries in the Monze Diocese. At first, they worked as volunteers with other religious congregations, and additional Sisters of Mercy from Ireland and Newfoundland were inspired to follow in years to come.

Issue four of Mercywords is now online. This most current issue is devoted to the controversy in the USA about whether or not an Islamic Cultural and Community Center should be built in New York City in an area close to Ground Zero.
Four very fine writers – Jewish, Christian and Muslim – have written short essays.
The three past issues remain online.

St Teresa's School, Rosebank
St Teresa’s School, formerly known as St Teresa’s Convent and Rosebank Mercy Convent, opened on 28 January, 1930, in a small garage in Sturdee Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg, where three Mercy Sisters taught three junior and two high school pupils. The 1960s saw St Teresa’s grow into separate junior and senior blocks with double classes throughout the school. Over the years a happy spirit has prevailed. The school has been blessed with dedicated principals, caring and willing teachers and a supportive parent body. While we have kept pace with the changes and challenges of our society, we have maintained the traditional values of service, faith, integrity, compassion and personal excellence. This spirituality expresses itself in service to others, especially those on the fringes of society.
