As the UN begins to prepare for the Millennium Devopment Goals review summit in September, one of the interns, Jose, for the Commission on Social Development has completed an excellent summary on the UN Document- Rethinking Poverty. The key opening paragraph is of major importance as we begin to think about how we think about poverty!

The fifth area of the new web platform provides us with rich resources on Catherine’s spirituality. It has three sections.
By clicking on ‘Play’ in the inset on the Suscipe of Catherine McAuley, you will hear a beautifully sung version of the Suscipe.
You can now make a virtual tour to Catherine’s grave and place a lighted candle and a prayer there. All you have to do is click on ‘Post your prayer’. When the next frame opens up, follow the instructions and your prayer and candle will be placed at Catherine’s tomb in Baggot Street.
Currently, there are 17 reflections available in this section on Catherine and her spirituality: 5 audio presentations, (with multiple parts); 5 video presentations and 7 written presentations. You can access any one of these by clicking on the selected item.

Where Sisters of Mercy Minister: Guernsey (29)
Sisters of Mercy have ministered in Guernsey since 1868 when a foundation was established on Cordier Hill by sisters coming from Brighton, England. The sisters established a primary school within that same year. In 1890, sisters from this community in Guernsey were sent on mission to establish the foundation in Alnwick in northern England.

Welcome to college, now go help someone (Americas)
LOWER GWYNEDD - It's known at Gwynedd-Mercy College as "Introduction to Service."
As part of the Lower Gwynedd college's new student orientation, the freshman class — many of whom just moved into the residence halls Thursday — was split into groups of 15 to 20, performing various volunteer service projects, both on campus and throughout the region on Friday.
Serving those who have been marginalized by society is "in our mission statement and our core values," said Gwynedd-Mercy College communications specialist Megan Gilmore, who last year at this time went with a group of new students to spruce up a garden at Norristown Hospital.

Mercy Spirituality Reflection Guide
Sisters of Mercy often prepare rituals appropriate to specific themes that might be used for retreats, days of recollection or services and rituals. They often incorporate sections taken from Mercy readings. These may be taken from Catherine’s writings or from other works written by Sisters of Mercy. Those in this selection may be used, in full or in part, in planning a prayer service for a group or used individually. They include suggestions for music, psalms, opening and closing prayers, readings and rituals.
