A trip down memory lane (Americas)
On Thursday, June 17th, staff members at St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell, NY, welcomed back Sister Mary William 45 years after she ran the hospital’s business office...
Sister Mary took a guided tour, spent time meeting staff and marveled at the hospital’s development and technological capabilities...
'They were just thinking about putting computers in 1965, so you can imagine what things were like,' she said.

A greater awareness can bring about change (Americas)
The Ethics Institute of Northeastern Pennsylvania at Misericordia University was established in 1987 by Sister Siena Finley rsm and a group of community professionals and leaders from the Wyoming Valley who wished to foster more dialogue on ethical issues affecting the region.
Six weeks ago Leadership Wilkes-Barre and the Ethics Institute launched the Ethics Awareness Initiative - coming together as a civic community to accent something good, a code of ethics that we stand by and with which the community want to be identified.

Where Sisters of Mercy Minister: United States (19)
The Sisters of Mercy have been ministering in the United States since 1843 when Francis Xavier Warde arrived in Pittsburgh with six companions from Carlow, Ireland, on December 21. Subsequent groups came from Ireland to New York and California by 1854, and by 1929 sixty independent foundations existed throughout the United States. Today, Sisters of Mercy from four Mercy families live and minister in the United States: Congregation of Sisters of Mercy (Ireland); Institute of Sisters of Mercy of the Americas; Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia; and Sisters of Mercy of Newfoundland.
