Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Feature

Mobilizing our Mercy Passion (MIA)

In her research paper : A U.S. Sister of Mercy Dialogues with Tradition, Dolores Liptak rsm, recalls the words of Cardinal Joseph Suenens who urged religious to be at the very centre of the drama of human salvation and to break through the restraints of the past to follow Christ’s example through active mission.

Dolores writes: In recent times the U.S. Sisters have taken two well-worn pathways in order to follow in the footsteps of  their founders. They have responded to the words of their Constitution that required them to use every means to live out Christ’s challenge to ‘Follow me’. They have remained bearers of the Gospel, missionaries, first responders, women who have stood by the Cross with Christ. What, then should be said of us and our intentions for the future of Mercy? Our outreach will bear little fruit unless we see that every project we engage in today continues to be done with the same hopes and dreams of Mother McAuley in mind.
